Hello, September…or should I say Septembarre? 😉 It’s officially been a month and a half since I have started Pure Barre and I am LOVING IT!! Even though it’s only been a little over a month, Pure Barre has been the best thing to happen to me.
For a while, I was taking for granted the body that I had worked so hard for. It was beginning to take a toll on me both physically and emotionally. I felt like all the hard work my physical therapists put into me was beginning to go away and at almost 25 years old chicken strips and french fries don’t go through your body like they used to – especially when you’re just shy of 5 ft.
I have made it a priority for myself to go every day and I can tell it’s made a difference. My core feels strong, my hips are slimming and my gait is improving 🙂 I love LTB-ing (lift, tone, burn) every week and seeing improvements in myself every day. Maybe it’s endorphins? 💖
Last week also marked my 8-year mark since having my first surgery. I seriously can’t believe how long it has been. The protocol for lengthening for achondroplasia typically starts at ages 8 to 10. I have had a few families reach out to me this last year with a child who was only a baby when I had my first surgery – crazy! Some have even started or are about to have their first surgery and it’s so exciting to see. I always wonder how my life would have been had I started at 8 to 10 but starting as a young adult gave me the experience of being full adult height both before and after. I really have experienced both worlds and know I made the right decision for me.
