Remember last year when we turned ’21? It was supposed to be fun, right? At least, that’s what Taylor thought when she turned 21 *forever internally screaming, “screw you, Jake Gyllenhaal!”* 😫
Don’t get me wrong, 2021 was a fun year, with caution…which is a state of matter I think we’re going to be living in for the unforeseeable future. It made up for the year before, but I think by the end we were moreover it then we were at the end of 2020. I am feeling like 2022 will be more happy and free, but at the same, confusing and lonely. I don’t want this to be a sob post, so I’m here to share all the fun moments that I had in 2021 🤗
Like everyone, I had many, MANY virtual meetings. Some of my favorites included being a guest at BioMarin’s Rare Disease Day event, getting vaccinated to protect myself and others from COVID-19, hosting the 3rd Annual Achondroplasia Research Conference – in person and virtually – with over 100 attendees from 21 countries, visiting home and giving hugs, meeting with state officials on the importance of treatment accessibility for those with achondroplasia and making sure that no patient is denied access, hitting 500 classes in Pure Barre and starting Core Power Yoga, moving into a new apartment with a bay window (I’ve always dreamt of having a bay window ever since I was younger 🥰), headed to the West Coast for under 72 hours for a project, turning 28 on the VERY DAY that VOXZOGO™ was approved for those 5 and up with achondroplasia, and more…so, ’21 was fun despite all of the things that happened in between.
Given the circumstances, I think this year will be happy, free, confusing, and lonely (in the best way). We just have to take it day by day. I decided to not make any set resolutions this year, I do have plans, but I’m also holding my breath. Every year, one of my resolutions is to always write more on my blog, and if you’ve been here for some time, you know how often that happens…
Happy New Year (and some days), y’all!
